Lootun is an interesting auto battler with a strong focus on itemization as well as item and skill progression. The game definitely tickles one’s desire to get better awesome loot, equip it and notice the ongoing spike to hunt the strongest monsters and get the best loot.

There are three different classes at the moment with a bunch of abilities and some fun interactive opportunities. Just as one can honor all art trees for free, the game encourages one to experiment with different art forms.

Story 

The story in this game comes through a process known as “Education”. The world-building is simple, directing you to bring your pointer to various boxes to click to make the bars move left to right and stop other bars from moving right to left.

It really works seamlessly to weave the game mechanics directly into the story. I felt this story was a rather unpleasant experience and can be skipped for players who want more immediate access to fun activities.

The Flow of the Bar

The game has moving bars. Most of these bars go from left to right. This is interesting. Sometimes these bars move from right to left. This is not very pleasant. If the manufacturers reduce the movement of the right bar to the left, it will increase my ranking in this category. Overall, since more bars move left to right than the right to left, I don’t feel like it detracts from the experience.

Clicking Objects

There are a lot of things you can click on the screen that allows you to open different in-game menus. Not only have they included the ability to use the left swipe, but they have also added some functionality with the right swipe.

I found joy in clicking left and right. Unfortunately, some items say they are “locked” and do not allow left or right-click operation. This makes me feel like I am being denied my happiness, although it adds extra happiness when the closing task is won.

Usability?

At the moment, the game definitely suffers from usability issues and could improve some aspects of the UI. Sometimes, the game doesn’t tell you how to use the new widget you unlock or what else you can do and there isn’t much color coding in the UI that tells you if you have items sufficient to perform the act or not. In some parts, it feels like their game developer knows their game and its features so well that they don’t have the opinion of someone who doesn’t know it.

An example of this is the Community Center. It’s this upgrade that once unlocked, helps you offer resources for a new type of currency. How does one provide materials? Well, the game doesn’t tell you or I missed it. You have to find yourself going into the Repository and right-clicking on something. After opening the expansion, material prompts tell you that you can offer them by right-clicking them, however, they are nonetheless hidden and left to their devices.

Some of the information is hidden in the Glossary and if you want to find items, you often have to dig yourself in there to find out when to unlock something or how something works or where to grind something of a particular.

Overall:

All in all, I would say that Lootun offers an enhanced experience with its loot, skills, and skill system that can keep you busy for some time for sure. If grinding loot and equipment in Idler and Auto Battler, gradually improving your gear, and taking on new challenges are your things, Lootun has the juice for you.
