About This Game:

Dark Envoy makes up 70% of a great game. This fantasy steampunk cRPG from second-generation developer Event Horizon features real-time battery combat with a tactical pause option, a solid skill system that rewards experimentation, a compelling and heartfelt story, and dozens of narrative decisions. results

Story:

It’s a typical RPG hero’s journey. The Chosen runs into a junk pile, his hometown is attacked, mentors die, he goes to the big city… and finally he fights God. That said, world-building is good and choices can lead to different outcomes. A major decision halfway through plays out differently between the two branches of the main story. It’s well written and the game’s art and environment help make it lose.

At times, the character voices may be reading from the script, but to me, the voices are a bonus. Repeatability is good for different selections.

Presentation: (Graphics, Sound, UI)

Whether it’s a stone forest or a sprawling industrial complex, the environment looks good. In terms of art, I can make sure the characters look good too. It’s exciting to see long hair in the modern game.

Sounds work. This genre can be very interesting because there is a lot going on when there are 4 heroes against 4 characters, so I don’t expect anything impressive. Things in the game work.

There are some jokes. As written, turn off Screen Space Global Illumination, as strange dots appear on icons. The UI is a bit clunky, and it’s hard to compare the hardware on the store screen, but the devils are working on it. Icons’ stats sometimes don’t update when you increase their attributes, so you have to close and reopen the window. Also, some dialogue patterns, occasional repeated lines, etc. No big deal, but don’t wait for the AAA police at this point.

Gameplay:

I’ve only played this in single player and the Tactical RPG part is well done. There is plenty of room for improvement. Different classes, abilities, faction gear, enchantments, party composition, and more result in multiple ways to gear and play.

Combat in Dark Envoy feels like a strategy game of defense or survival. As you start the fight, enemies start dropping power-ups from various locations. At the same time, each class has different techniques, from controlling the movement of enemies, building walls, threatening the floor, and shooting skillfully.

Bosses also pose their fair share of threats. It has a pause button, so it focuses heavily on character-building and tactical planning. There are many ways to play, from a traditional tank/healer/DPS party to a tower defense deck to a specific spell to turn a character into a death zone. Most of the enemies are single characters, but the variety comes from their composition and terrain.

Overall:

It must be said that the negative reviews have a point. This game is expensive, but it should be a little more polite. In my opinion, it should have been launched in Early Access instead of a full release, but if you can look past the issues, and consider the sound and cut of other indie locations, interesting and very ambitious for an indie studio in the Tactical RPG genre. use images without sound.
