About This Game:

Right and Down is a deceptively simple turn-based rogue-lite dungeon-crawler card game where you navigate a grid of tiles trying to get from the top-left corner to the bottom-right exit. Each turn you have only two choices: slide right or slide down. You must reach the end of level 50 to run; you lose if your health drops to zero.

Each character starts with an element that grants some kind of passive bonus and an ability that can be triggered by moving in a certain pattern. For example, the Brute’s Brutal Hack ability deals 4 damage to three right-handed enemies three times after landing.

Atmosphere:

The fantasy theme of the game is definitely attractive and helps make your time in Right and Down worth it. Each biome has a unique theme, from tiles that appear on a level, to background particles, to music. While the gameplay is the same at every level, I found the change in theme very exciting and actually had an impact on the game. Each biome-specific trap will significantly hinder your progress.

Conclusion:

“Right and Down” is an addictive roguelike that takes its simplicity to its core. With its interesting gameplay, simple controls, intense atmosphere, and challenging dungeons, it’s a game that you can easily immerse yourself in for hours. Unfortunately, the lack of a save feature is noticeable to players without much free time to play. But with all that’s on offer at this price point, I think it’s worth your time.
