About This Game:

I have played in just 8 hours, and enjoyed the game a lot, really lived up to expectations for an ARPG and Roguelike. The uniqueness of the Clean Domain area makes for a great side activity that is well integrated with the main objectives of the game! Items and loot are also balanced, only 8 hours in, and only common and uncommon items are found, no rares or legendary items balanced yet – balanced to make the value of rares and legendaries up to that point. No complaints other than the camera angles, but that’s entirely user error, once you get comfortable smoothing out the controls!

Gameplay:

• Character creation can be a lot more fun, which is a possible consequence of the level cap. A disconnected GUI doesn’t help matters. There are many classes but the selection is limited as only a limited number of new classes are offered by tower upgrades on death.
• The gameplay in the first half of Tower is very slow to emerge. It really picks up later when NPC quest givers appear, stand-alone areas become active and enemy combat becomes stronger in nature.
• Fighting against countless enemy fighters is definitely fun, even if it is repetitive. Characters have no real options to change their attack style, once a melee specialist, always one. Stones of equal ability provide some alternatives to combat.
• Enemy spawns initially use a single type and only become more diverse after 4th level. Although there are many types of attack to keep the player on their toes.
• Pixel graphics are an acquired taste and while the third/first-person option is cool, the engine shows its limitations when the character is placed at certain points on the map.

Overall:

Arch Tower PC Download is already in playable condition and offers an encouraging amount. About/less than 50% complete with a good portion of its content missing. While a little rough around the edges it shows its potential well, even if in its current state it needs more attention. While still a work in progress it’s more than just a demo, but warrants a look for anyone interested in what it currently has to offer.
