The Lighthouse seems to have been heavily influenced by the ‘Layers of Fear’ and I see a lot of similarities between the two titles, however, it also brings new elements to the table and is not replicated in any way.
Gameplay is based on what we typically see in these genres, searching, puzzles, item collections, crafts, and finding notes to follow a narrative story. In its current state, there aren’t many things to discover and most of the items that players need to interact with are very clear. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.
Puzzles usually involve finding parts around the area and combining them with other parts to create a complete item. This item is then used, and a small puzzle may reveal itself, usually with clear clues around it. Puzzles are hard to please everyone and although I personally want to add some more complexity, I understand why it can stay that way. The focus of the game is on the narrative story and as such, if the story is polite then I don’t think the basic puzzles.
