Subsistence Gameplay: Though not as dynamic as Rust, Subsistence has a lot going for it. The scenery is beautiful, the wildlife is just as deadly, and they live forever in danger of dying from hunger and hypothermia. Building bases is a simple matter compared to rust, but there are fewer options. A good feature of the Subsistence is the power plant. If you want to upgrade weapons, build animal cages, plant permanent gardens, or just install a freezer to store meat, you need to build a power plant to power everything. So far there are only a few weapons, but how much power does one need to get a chicken, a rabbit, a wolf or a bear? (Well, in the case of the bear, too much.)
There are three levels of difficulty in the game: easy, medium and hard (although the game uses different names). You can also decide if you want to activate hunters. These are the AI NPCs that set up camp away from your base. They will not bother you unless you get lost in their area. Which, of course, made the video an overnight sensation. Unfortunately, they have unlimited ammunition. Fortunately, they are not very bright, at least not until two or three of them are in the same camp.

Pros:

Extremely challenging, even on lower difficulties – (Unless you have a full blade and plenty of ammunition in it – and yet – you can deprive it of a heartbeat!)
Construction materials feel good / beneficial.
Survival feels like … well, survival – besides water, you have a “true” hunger bar. Your appetite bar includes protein and fruits / veggies, which is more realistic, and adds a freshness to the survival game. Failure to cope with the survival of the animal / predator makes it a difficult, frustrating (yet fun), survival experience.
The map is relatively large, and the money is advantageous with a crate of resources. Even though the map is so wide, you can easily identify landmarks (such as snow mountains, large arches, short arches, caves, etc.) to easily navigate the region.
More consistency than many games I’ve played. You can craft farmers, add growing lights, etc. (to allow it to grow overnight), add wells for digging water, and raise animals like cattle for self-sustaining food. Able to collect.
Ordinary audio quality (gun sounds, grenades, water slides and the sound of walking) are amazing for this price point game.
The game is PvE, but plays like a PvP game. I often found myself standing up to cut down trees, collect water, and so on – always hoping that the 4 men camping a mile from my base would be illuminated by the Hunter Unit.
AI actually DOES something (literally). The hunter (raider AI) build their own camo bases, gather resources, group up in 2-5 man parties, and will raid you when built up.
There is scope to design an important and beautiful base or house. Like most games like Fortnight, they have implemented half walls, quarter walls and curved walls.
