Project Heartbeat might just be the game we’ve been waiting for. With the development of PPD stopped and SEG. it’s nice to see a fanmade game that lives up to a lot of our expectations. It’s still an early access game, but it’s come a long way to what we really need.
Project Heartbeat is a great rhythm game and the closest we’ll ever get to Project DIVA on PC. For those who have played PPD, think of this game as a cleaner version. This game has a lot of potentials and I feel that given enough time this could be one of the biggest rhythm games on steam.
The game itself is pretty cool, I just wish there were more songs (preferably Vocaloid, since most of the player base, comes from that), but I’m sure that’s something the dev is well aware of lol. The actual controls are very user-friendly and surprisingly very responsive, and it mostly felt like playing a tone of the future (and a better experience than the megamix).
I haven’t actually seen this talk, but I love the mix of f/f2nd gameplay and a futuristic tone, especially since the only thing keeping me from my old f2nd PD game was 30fps (which obviously isn’t a problem in this game mother).
Pros:
- Ability to create custom beats/maps for each song, although video/audio must come from YouTube to share in the workshop.
- The game runs like a breeze and the song editor works great.
- Friendly UI/UX with little learning required.
- Community content with workshop integration.
Cons:
- community content. Most of the workshop maps only have Extreme difficulty and most of the content is not available for newcomers. The quality of the content also varies.
- A few achievements.
- Note Limited sounds from the box.
- A small variety in official songs. To really enjoy the game, it takes some time to download the workshop content you like or create charts for the songs you like.
Project Heartbeat is an amazing PD simulator. Being able to create and play custom maps and import maps from other sources really makes this a sweet deal and you can have a unique project diva setup with this. The menus and song editors are very clean and tidy, and the controls feel like a project diva. I can’t wait to try this on my steam tank when I finally get mine.
Relying heavily on community content also means that the quality of content available depends on the community itself. Map quality varies from maps that are so good it looks like they were designed by the original Project Diva team to maps that are good but don’t feel natural to play, to maps that require more time to get used to.
Many custom maps are only available on extreme difficulty, so if newcomers want to play more than vanilla tracks, there may be some difficulties that are not accessible to newcomers.
Its performance is significantly better than other similar games with a time window that feels really real, the PPD importer allows you to play more songs than what is currently available in the Steam workshop, with a UI that looks stylish and looks stylish.
Overall:
Highly recommended if you are coming from the Diva series to F2nd and desperately want the edit mode to come back somehow. If you’re not from Diva and don’t know how to play the game, it’s not recommended to accidentally enter this game. (Go play Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix+ first then come back for more). Overall Project Heartbeat is the most intense Project Diva simulator for PC that I have played so far.
