Legend of the Sword

Legend of the Sword is the most beautiful game, there are many places – all with a graphical representation – and there are many things to do. I had a good time, just wandered around the kingdom of Anar and got nothing special, I just enjoyed the scenery.

The evil sorcerer Suzar and his army of mutated humans attacked the country of Anar and defeated its brave warriors in a bloody war. Only you, as the parent, can know for sure. You were taken by the king’s merchant ship and brought to King Darius. The people of Anar know the ancient legends, which speak of the magic sword and shield, whose power can only defeat Suzar. You and five other adventurers have voluntarily entered the Anar desert and taken enchanting things.

Legend of the Sword is an imaginative adventure game with very light RPG elements (top-down view, day and night cycle, world map exploration, traditional RPG-like planning, etc.). But the basic game is a clean-up puzzle-solving experience. You interact with the environment by writing commands, and only a few of them are represented by icons (movement in eight directions as well as in and out).

Evil wizards have been haunted by brave warriors since the beginning of computer experiences and Legend of the Sword is not ready to break this trend. The thing that separates it from the rest of the package, though, is the presentation. The map on the screen, the use of mice, and menus are good for worldly actions and the gameplay is fast. Unfortunately, some of that speed is lost with regular disk access.

Although the adventure does not have full-screen graphics, there is a small graphics window with 350 different images and an overview map, on which details of the environment can only be seen when the player has just reached the area in question.

The control of various options via the mouse, the joystick, or the cursor keys is comfortable, as is the parser, which is extremely quick and easy to understand. The entire presentation (incl. the graphics) is therefore almost identical to the ST version, even if the frequent reloading shouldn’t have been necessary. So why give bad marks?

In terms of style, LEGEND OF THE SWORD runs on a fine line between adventure and role-playing games. However, according to the very conservative Wizard Warz, the manufacturers were able to combine the two categories in such a way that there was no unclear wash-wash. THE LEGEND OF THE SWORD is therefore unique and at the same time great.
