Brutal Orchestra

Brutal Orchestra is an amazing video game. After experiencing many runs of the Brutal Orchestra, I just had to share this essence with others. Due to its bizarre premise that you are caught in the crossfire with a devil who shares the name of a famous Dutch painter and he grows fish weapons to get revenge on the main character for killing his relatives. This game had me hooked.

Battles

They are based on rotation. You have a party of up to five creatures. At every turn, every creature can perform an action. Every creature has three different skills. You will need oil for each skill. You start with 3 yellow pigments and they will refill every turn. When you hit enemies, you’ll find new oils in different colors: blue, red, yellow, or purple. Different skills require different oils. Enemy health bars have one of these colors and based on that, you will get this oil. You can force your creatures to do any skill without the right color of oil but then they will harm themselves. This lubrication system adds a lot of strategy to the battles.

Battlefield also adds a layer of strategy to the game. Depending on the position of your creature (five different fields), the enemy will either kill you or the empty field, of course for your attacks. During the turn, the creature can go to a different field at once. The position is very important, especially in boss fights.

The good

• Fights are very strategic and fun. The oil system is addictive and adds a lot of strategy to the game. Thanks to this and the correct positioning, every turn needs to be carefully planned. Getting into the game is easy, but getting into it is easy but difficult.
• Boss fights. I like them very much. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Every boss is different and in the end, you will need a new strategy to defeat them.
• The tutorial is very good and explains the basics of the game. The writing is funny and comes to life in the game. Often, indie games are associated with a little story that may not shine as much as story games or books. It can certainly spark its humor.

The Bad

• I would like to have the option to speed up animations/battles. It’s too slow for someone who likes to hurry.
• While there is a lot to open for runs in the future, I would like to take a big initiative in the form of a currency and I can use it to open certain things. This will add another interactive part to the IMO.
• Also, it will be a little easier to unlock the characters. While I think it’s great to have some purpose to unlock the characters, I’d like to keep some that I just open “on the go”.
• No events / incidents. That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there.
  I would like to have patterns that give a bonus to the whole party/run.

Conclusion:

Brutal Orchestra is really a fun roguelike turn-based strategy game. The style of art is very good and the writing is humorous. But the most important part is the strategy aspect: thanks to the unique combat system, it adopts as much strategy as you want to be TBS. The pigment system is through addiction and thinking. I can’t really find many negative things about the game other than giving me more, adding some mechanics and stuff.
