Backpack Hero is a great game, great rogue-lite, I have many hours in the demo and early access is just a better version. For the love of god, remove the back menu button in the top menu from the top right corner. I lost significant progress by automatically clicking where the exit menu button would normally be placed while trying to exit that menu.

Other than that there are some bugs to work out – the robot character at one point softened the game because he never moved around and got stuck in despair. The tutorials at the start of EVERY run get boring fast, the robot character, in particular, takes almost 3 minutes to beat and since you restart this game so many times, the boy will you want a pass button for the third time.

There are also some balance points to work out – I’ve found that the most effective strategies seem to ignore a lot of the more complex and interesting mechanics in order to just do a bunch of damage at once in a very simple way, or stack arrows. or even just getting a hit in the opening game and then winning. Some items also feel too restrictive for the prize — leaving a ton of open space in your bag just doesn’t seem right.

After a while the game starts to feel a bit low – some kind of meta-development or mechanical tweaks can help to solve it, ways to improve by finding better things (you can have different bag configurations that you can positively from the beginning and negative select transactions) as well as just throwing more elements at it, unique rooms, but I hope it will improve to some extent with early access.

You basically loot items after each battle that you have to fit into your limited bag (which gets bigger as you level up) and use these items during battle. But everything occupies a certain place and has a certain shape. So it’s your puzzle bag and you’ll be organizing your stuff many times during the game!

Items will merge with each other based on their adjacency, which also adds (good) complexity to inventory management as you’re really trying to make the best possible build! Fortunately, tooltips are here to tell you the exact effects so you can check if your new item placement is better than the old one.

There are tons of elements that mean tons of build potential, and even though some are a bit more complicated than others, all look really interesting and powerful. An easy game to learn and hard to master. The basic mechanics are very simple and the game teaches them well. But there are tons of little mechanics that you will learn with experience!

Very fun. It was hard to put down. Played many hours on the demo and expect it to be playable for a long time before the early release. So the demo isn’t that advanced, so try the demo first, and if you don’t like it wait for a review closer to release. Now it’s totally worth it for me and expect most rogue-like or Slay the Spire fans to feel the same.

This is a really interesting take on inventory management and games like rouge as a whole. This game makes you think in a completely new way about where and how you place items in your inventory. Each of the ever-different playable characters completely rewrites how the game is played and adds even more depth and possibilities to the core gameplay. Overall Recommended Game !!
