Coffence Download is a very fun concept that I feel has great potential as an indie brawler, following the “legacy” of games such as Lethal League. The concept of coffee is well thought out, the coffee cup serves as your health bar, and the purpose of the game is to eliminate your opponent’s coffee using a variety of tactics.
Interestingly, in Coffence, player A’s lost health can mean player B’s acquired health if he can catch enough drops. This creates a fun situation where you really need to think about which drops you are able to fight, and which drops you are able to drop. The theme of the game is very much “fencing”, and like fencing, its purpose is to outdo your opponents and always think one step ahead.

However, in its current repetition, the Coffence is not without flaws. The lack of an online component makes it a game that you have to play directly with someone to play the game: Player vs. Player. I also think that at the moment, the “fencing”, mathematical theme/gameplay has been adapted by a versatile dashing mechanic which makes the game have to be much faster which gives me the required tension “Button-mashing” is fought because as opposed to mind-games.
Nevertheless, the latest construction shows that the boys are working hard to update the game and they are listening to criticism. Although there is currently no online component, AI players like me can now play “lonely” players to practice. It’s not hard to see Coffence ability, especially if you like to play the “couch-gaming” style with friends. There’s even a 4 player mode where you can fight for Coffence supremacy!
