A Building Full of Cats is a hidden object game where you have to find all the cats with some very well hidden. Depending on your skill the game will provide anywhere from 30mins to a couple of hours of entertainment.

It took me about 99mins to find each cat and get all the achievements. I tried to do it quickly but some cats took me much longer to discover.

Simple, cute, and fun about finding and petting cats in people’s apartments, it’s impossible for me not to love this game! Some of the well-hidden cats make me laugh when I find them and think that there was one that was hoping I would take them home all along. My only complaint is that there’s no need to add that last achievement, it makes completionists feel terrible afterward, but it doesn’t matter, just delete your save data, play again and accept kitty whether your first play-by doing it or your third.

Gameplay

The gameplay is a pretty basic point with a click-style “puzzle” to solve. Your goal is to find all the cats hidden in different rooms/areas. Some are well hidden and some are quite obvious. I don’t think it’s meant to be a challenge to get everything, but it’s more on the relaxing side. The game also has products that are very easy to find and a nice extra to have.

Soundtrack & Community Features

The soundtrack soothes and gets the job done. The game has trading cards that can be customized into cute emoticons, badges and backgrounds. It is a nice bonus for the game to have community content implemented as it gives players the opportunity to personalize their profile with content from their favorite games.

Some of the cats are so well hidden that it may take time to find them all. It took me 2 hours to finish the game and about half of that required at least one cat on each floor.

Those are just cats hiding in plain sight, though. There are also hidden cats on every floor. The calculator is divided into two sections, obvious and hidden, so you can easily see how many cats are left to find in both, which is a very nice touch and also very useful. It also ensures that you are not wasting time looking for a very small cat (some of the cats are very very small) if you want to find a hidden cat instead. Now there is also a hint system, which can be very useful for very young cats.

The 72 Steam Achievements are mostly obtained by simply getting all the cats on each floor, however, there are a few special ones. There are 6 successes for finding all of the obvious cats on each floor (including the roof) and another 5 for finding all of the hidden cats.

Be sure to check every part of the game you can access in the main menu, not just the apartment floors, to find more hidden cats for more success. Certain cats on each floor will give one of 50 new achievements, so you can get them all in just one game by getting all the cats. On each floor, you will also find one additional cat that disappears when you click on it. Get it 3 times on each floor for 5 more successes (1 per floor). Doing so also unlocks 3 more achievements.

Overall:

Overall, it’s a fun and enjoyable game, the audio and visual elements fit the theme perfectly and it’s a great overall thing. It will take about an hour or so to play and is a very relaxing and satisfying experience that is easy to recommend.

I would recommend this game to anyone who likes cats, likes hidden object games, and doesn’t mind earning every Steam Achievement in the game or enjoys playing the game this one by using it twice to get the good and bad endings (bad if you like cats).
